About the author
Tom Robbins was born in Blowing Rock, North Carolina on Jully 22, 1936. He attended a military academy and graduated in 1950 after winning the Senior Essay Medal. He went on to study journalism at Washington and Lee university but ended his education after his sophomore year due to disciplinary issues. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1953 and served until 1957. Following that, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Washington where he finally got his Master’s degree. He wrote his first novel in 1967 and has written nine more books since then. He is most recognized for his novel, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. He was awarded the Golden Umbrella award and was listed by the Writer’s Digest magazine as among the 100 best writers of the 20th century.
